WW2 German Vehicle ID Flag
Offered here is a very fine example of a WW2 German vehicle ID flag. These flags were affixed to the front of tanks or other armored vehicles. The thought was that friendly pilots flying overhead would see this and not accidentally fire upon their own forces, however many historians say the purpose was more an act of patriotism than any practical use. You can see many archival photos of these flags on the hood of cars/trucks, and famously on tanks. This flag roughly measures 74x37”, there is one very small hole, and some oil stains (what you’d expect being on a vehicle) other than that it is in very good condition!
