WW2 German Luftschutz “Gladiator” Helmet
Offered here is a very fine example of a WW2 German Luftschutz air defense helmet. Collectors coined the term “gladiator” helmet back in the 1960’s due to its resemblance to the helmets worn by the gladiators in Ancient Rome. These helmets were worn by the air defense men of the Luftschutz. This helmet is in very good if not excellent condition. The decal is original and nearly 95% there. Most interesting is the complete, late war liner. I have never seen such an interesting liner in these before, typically you see the brown leather or even pressed paper liners. The liner and chin strap are absolutely original and an uncommon variation among these helmets. You would be hard pressed to find another one of these helmets in better condition!
