WW2 US GI’s Bring Back Grouping
Offered here is an excellent bring back grouping from a US soldier who served in WW2. Staff Sergeant Albert Strumble of Ohio served honorably during WW2, when he returned home he brought back these items as a reminder of his time overseas. As you can see from his paperwork Mr. Strumble fought in the Ardennes likely in or around the time of the Battle of The Bulge. The grouping is made up of a Hitler Youth armband, a nice lighter that had two Hitler Youth emblems attached to the lighter, as well as a parade bayonet, and finally a very fine SA dagger. The Hitler Youth armband is the more desirable, early, multi-piece constructed example. The parade bayonet is unmarked, but accompanied with correct dress frog and portepee. The frog is well broken in, and somewhat loose, but still quite nice and functional. The SA dagger is very choice. The blade is exceptional, with nearly no conditional issues. The make SMF, is one that is somewhat uncommon for SA daggers. Certainly not a rare maker, but one that you do not encounter often. There is a few chips at the very top of the handle, but other than that, it’s in very fine shape. Best part about the SA is that it comes with the desirable, and hard to find; early 3 piece hanger. These hangers were used early on and are not commonly found, they sell for $250.00 on their own. Overall this grouping is truly fantastic, it is becoming so much harder to find honest groupings like this that have not been parted out over time. This grouping is exactly the same as it was purchased from the veteran himself. Very very choice group.
