WW1 US 1st Division Painted Doughboy Helmet
Offered here is a very fine example of a painted doughboy helmet from the 1st Division (Big Red One). This helmet is not only a complete example with the liner and chinstrap fully intact, but this helmet is also hand-painted by the soldier who wore this in WW1. one of the things that I like about this helmet is how the divisional symbol is slightly crooked, I can imagine a doughboy in a trench painting this on his lap, and not putting a terrific amount of detail into it. Helmet also exhibits a very nice textured finish. Overall this helmet is very fine, it is hard enough to find doughboys with complete liners and chinstraps, to find them with original paint jobs is exceedingly difficult!
