WW2 German Captured Eagle Pole Topper With Documentation
Offered here is an absolutely spectacular piece of WW2 history. Not only is this a very nice example of a WW2 German eagle pole topper, but this pole topper comes with a direct chain of custody as well as extensive information on the veteran who captured this piece and brought it home as his war souvenir. Interestingly enough the veteran was Jewish, we can only imagine his pride in bringing home this item to celebrate his defeat of the Third Reich. The aluminum eagle is in very nice shape, some of the black paint on the swastika has rubbed off, but other than that there is no major conditional issues. Please ignore the strange photos around the eagles swastika, there is nothing wrong with the eagle, our photo editor was having a hard time whiting out the background around the swastika. It is exceedingly rare to find WW2 German items brought back by veterans, that have a trail of written documentation. Nearly all of the veteran stories about their bring backs are oral, few people had the foresight to write down their experiences. The collector is not simply buying an aluminum eagle pole topper, but rather the story of the veteran as well, and as such it has been priced to reflect this. A truly remarkable piece.
