WW2 German DLV Glider Pilots Dagger
Offered here is a very fine example of a WW2 German DLV glider pilots dagger. The DLV were a military organization that was disguised as a civilian flying organization. After the treaty of Versailles in 1919, the German military was forbidden to train pilots or have an Air Force. The DLV was their way around this. The dagger itself is in very nice condition. It is not without a few spots of patina here and there. The scabbard retains all of its leather, and despite one or two spots where the leather was worn, it still looks very nice. Leather hanger is still present and also in nice condition. The handle retains all of its original leather, there is one very tiny rip in the leather, and another spot where the leather was rubbed, but other than that it’s in fine shape. The blade is decent, clear signs of patina throughout the blade, but still bright and shiny. It is nicely marked by the Eickhorn firm with their earlier variation Double-oval trade mark. Over all this dagger is really quite nice, these are typically not the most common dagger around as the organization was abandoned well before the war started.
