WW2 Italian Fascist Russian Front “Ice Cross” Medal
Offered here is a lovey example of a WW2 Italian Fascist medal commemorating service on the Russian Front. Collectors in the 1960’s coined the phrase the “Croce di Ghiaccio” or “Ice Cross”, similar to the nickname of the “Order of the Frozen Meat” for the German medal. There are many fakes of these medals, as collectors have always appreciated them. This one is absolutely genuine, and feature all the correct production markings. Condition is very good, one tiny chip on the edge of the cross, and of course most of the white enamel paint is missing. Veterans in post war years continued to wear these crosses showing they had fought in the harsh Russian steppes.
