WW2 German 1st Model Luftwaffe Dagger

$795.00

Offered here is a very fine example of a First Pattern Lufftwaffe Dagger. This example is an early, unmarked dagger produced by one of the many firms in Solingen Germany. This dagger features the earlier nickel silver fittings, a very nice shark skin leather handle and scabbard. Typically the grips and scabbards are heavily worn, this example has a very fine grip retaining all of the grip wire and nicely conditioned leather. The scabbard has a few spots of wear, but overall is very nice. The blade is very fine, there is a spot or two of patination but overall it shines bright, not sharpened, and is a very clean example. The sun wheels on the pommel cap have lost most of their gold wash, as is very typical with most Luftwaffe daggers. Overall these daggers are quite striking when in wear, suspended from the long metal chain. Collectors have coined the phrase “gladiator” dagger because of its sheer size and heft. Overall this dagger is an excellent example of an early 1st model Luftwaffe dagger, and will go great with any Luftwaffe collection!
