WW2 German Iron Cross 1st Class Vaulted
Offered here is an extremely rare and very nice example of a WW2 German Iron Cross 1st Class. What makes this medal very rare is that is was vaulted by the manufacturer, typically collectors only find vaulted examples on First World War Iron Crosses, however during WW2 very few were done this way. This cross is also maker marked “100” for the Rudolf Wächtler & Lange, Mittweida company. The lower catch is a post war replacement, often times these medals experienced some damage to the catch, the German veteran who was awarded this cross likely took it to his jeweler after the war and had the catch replaced. The cross is in very fine condition and the core is especially nice, very few dings, dents, or scratches!
