WW2 US M1 Helmet FS FB Rare IMP Liner
Offered here is a very fine example of an early production M1 helmet issued to an American solider in the Second World War. The helmet is an early front seam, and is also a fixed bail example. This helmet is accompanied by both the original leather liner chin strap, as well as late war cloth chin straps. This helmet comes with a very rare IMP produced liner, these are very desirable and not easy to find in the market. This helmet at some point in its service life was sent back to the arsenal and was refurbished. Many M1 helmets were recycled by the government after WW2, many of these helmets were sent back to the factory and were outfitted with upgraded specs to be used in the Korean War. The late cloth chin strap, and the repaint are evidence of this arsenal refinish.
Overall, the helmet exhibits great character and is in fine condition. It is very interesting to see this helmet was most likely the veteran of not 1, but 2 wars. It would be difficult to find a nicer example!
