WW2 German Cased Mothers Cross Bronze
Offered here is a nice paring of a German Mothers Cross in bronze, with a nice presentation case for the Mothers Cross in gold. The bronze crosses were issued in paper bags, while the presentation boxes were reserved for the gold grade of cross. Since this piece was acquired from a veteran family, it is my best guess that the veteran himself found this case, recognized the medal on the front and mated his two souvenirs together thinking he had a complete set. It was not until the 1960’s and 70’s did collectors begin to realize that errors like this were common with vet bringback souvenirs. A very nice and interesting set!
